The San Luis Obispo Coast AVA encompasses roughly 408,500 acres – nearly 4,000 under vine – and includes within it the Edna Valley AVA (est. 1982) and the Arroyo Grande Valley AVA (est. 1990). Our soils are young, diverse, and complex. They are lean, shallow, and well-draining with hard bedrock below, putting vines through just the right amount of stress to produce fruit with intense color and flavor.
