Description
Mt Veeder is an ancient seabed that guards the western entry to Napa, making it the coolest mountain AVA in Napa. Mt Brave sits above the fog line at 1,400 feet and enjoys warmer nights and cooler days than the valley floor.
Dark red cherry, plum, iron and smoke all make an appearance in the 2013 Merlot, a wine endowed with tons of Mt. Veeder character. The flavors are bright and punchy throughout. The addition of Malbec adds mid-palate richness and intensity, while hints of white pepper and blood orange add lift. With time in the glass, the Merlot turns a bit darker, but it never abandons that super-classic expression of Veeder that is such a calling card.
