Description
2021 saw very little rain with a total rainfall of 10 inches, far below our average of 22 inches. The rain came in small increments through March. A mild January and February combined with dry soils caused an early bud break. Those tender shoots were caught by surprise by the cold March and April nights. We had to run our wind machine for many nights. Shoot growth was slowed by these cold night temperatures, but made up in late May and June. We suckered early to eliminate any competition and used organic foliar nutrients to add to the vine health.
