Alder Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir, Mendocino County 2021

This unique French clone of 459 was farmed by Stuart Bewley, who has farmed outstanding grapes at his magnificent 6000-acre estate since 1993 in Mendocino County. Grapes were 50% whole cluster fermentated with indigenous yeast, and aged in French neutral barrels for 10 months. The resulting wine exhibits characteristics of the site, a coastal influence of a cool climate and a high elevation, with the complex aromas of pine forest, dried rose petals, rosemary, and a hint of cinnamon, raspberry, and lacy acidity in mid-palate. It finishes with silky tannin and savory mushroom characteristics.
